Decision making in post-disaster activities
Decision making for handling post-disaster must be carried out quickly, involving a large number of institutions and workforce from various backgrounds. Learning from the previous natural disaster in Palu 2018, we discovered several challenges being encountered, including ad-hoc and chaotic decision making, weak policy, importance of facilitation processes and livelihood programs, needs for temporary residential areas requiring government intervention, and vacant temporary shelters.
The importance of data and knowledge acquisition is quickly becoming the key in handling post-disaster activities. A platform for information dissemination can be used together collectively to support the activity implementation involving many stakeholders and institutions - domestic and international - PSII, 2020

Low carbon and energy efficient urban planning
Cities consume energy massively. Our study results presented a positive correlation between the size of urban areas and the amount of energy consumption. Urban planning that prioritize public transportation, non-motorized and compact transportation can significantly reduce fossil energy consumption and establish low carbon cities - PSII, 2019

The new capital city, an opportunity to actualize an energy-efficient and low-carbon city
The relocation and development plan of the new capital city provides an opportunity for Indonesia to realize a modern, liveable, low-carbon and sustainable city. Considerations for moving capital describes as follow (Stephenson, 1970; Gottman, 1983): i) upgrading the quality of environment and urban life; ii) reducing enormous burden for infrastructure needs; iii) currently limited government land in the capital to meet the needs for government space and services; and iv) increasing planned public service centres that are supported by adequate technology and facilities to serve effectively and efficiently.
Developing a new city is more feasible to actualize the urban planning and urban design which minimize arising social impacts due to the development process. The agenda for sustainable city is one of the important themes in city development that has only been introduced in recent years, such as the concept of compact city and mixed use which was designed with the TOD approach supported by a capital split. One of the findings from our study shows that urban planning that puts forward compact city designs is more energy efficient and low carbon with the support of mass public transportation and mobility without motorized vehicles. This design embodies a liveable and sustainable capital city - PSII, 2019

Revitalization Kali Besar Area as a Public Space
Urban public space is an important part of the city as a place for people to do various activities. Efforts to develop public space can be done through a placemaking approach. The placemaking approach is one of the concepts to strengthening, developing, and utilizing public space by prioritizing the character, culture, function, and involvement of various stakeholders.
PSII research to see how the placemaking approach in the revitalization of the Kali Besar Area is adapted. The result shows that revitalization can fulfil several factors of the placemaking process. Kali Besar area as a public space has been equipped with good accessibility and a comfortable environment, but this area still needs to be encouraged with various public activities that can be initiated by the community and community so that it is more inclusive and can attract various layers of society
